Cycle Rally on Save Mother Earth organized by SRMIST - UBA

 The deteriorating condition of our environment due to deforestation, pollution, and climate change has become a global concern. To address these issues locally and encourage environmental conservation, SRMIST UBA, in association with SRMIST NSS, and IE(I) KTR LC organized a Cycle Rally to Save Mother Earth, Awareness to avoid single-use plastics and Tree Plantations. 

The event aimed to unite individuals who care about the environment and inspire collective action for a greener and healthier local environment and planet. Planting 84,000 saplings is a featured activity in Chancellor's Birthday Celebrations. A cycle rally was conducted at 6.30 am on 23.07.2023 by SRMIST UBA, in association with NSS and IE (I) KTR LC, for a noble cause of tree plantations and awareness of avoiding single-use plastics. 

Through this awareness campaign, the measures of the environmental impact produced by planting saplings and the adverse effects caused using plastic. All enthusiastic participants took the pledge to save Mother-Earth. As part of the great event, 150 saplings were planted on the banks of Potheri Lake on 23.07.2023, marking the beginning of the planting of 84,000 saplings, one of the major activities of the Chancellor's birthday celebrations. The saplings were carefully selected based on their ability to thrive in the local climate and contribute significantly to the ecosystem. 

The event was inaugurated by Dr. R. Arul Saravanan, Professor and Head of the Psychiatry Department, with his special address on various measures of saving Mother-Earth.

Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (Campus Life) & Nodal Officer Unnat Bharat Abhiyan-SRMIST presided over the event. NSS Pharmacy Coordinator, Mr. Jagatheesan and faculty members, staff and students participated in large numbers. The cycle rally started from near Clocktower, SRMIST Kattankulathur Campus and went up to Potheri and planted saplings on the banks of the nearby lake and reached SRM through East Potheri, Kattur, Ninnakarai, Railnagar, Maraimalai Nagar, Katangulathur, Potheri and created awareness among the people in a radius of about 20 kilometers. 

 Throughout the rally, participants engaged with bystanders and onlookers, distributing pamphlets, and spreading awareness with plug guards and slogans about the importance of saving the environment. 

The event successfully generated widespread environmental awareness among both participants and onlookers. The messages conveyed during the rally and through pamphlets left a lasting impression on the minds of the community members, inspiring them to adopt more sustainable practices. The green cover by these trees create will combat climate change, prevent soil erosion, and provide habitat for various wildlife species. 

The event fostered a sense of community involvement in environmental causes. It brought together people from various backgrounds and united them under the common goal of saving the planet. The Cycle Rally to Save Mother Earth and Tree Plantations was a resounding success, positively impacting both the environment and the community. Through the combined efforts of participants, volunteers, and local authorities, the event demonstrated the power of collective action in the fight against environmental degradation. Planting 84,000 saplings will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the region's ecological well-being in the future. It is hoped that similar initiatives will continue to be organized to build on the momentum generated by this event and create a greener and healthier planet for generations to come. 

Breakfast was served to the participating students, staff, faculty, and local people. Feedback was received from all the stakeholders of the event, and the event ended with a vote of thanks.

இன்று(230723) காலை 6.30 மணிக்கு srm UBA, NSS மற்றும் IE (I) உடன் இணைந்து ஒரு உன்னத நோக்கத்திற்காக, அதாவது மரம் வளர்ப்பு மற்றும் ஒருமுறை பயன்படுத்தும் பிளாஸ்டிக் விழிப்புணர்வுக்காக சைக்கிள் பேரணி நடத்தப்பட்டது. இதன் மூலம் மரக்கன்றுகள் நடுவதால் ஏற்படும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் மேம்பாடு மற்றும் பிளாஸ்டிக் பயன்பாட்டால் ஏற்படும் பாதிப்புகள் குறித்து விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டது. அன்னை-பூமியை காப்போம் என அனைவரும் உறுதிமொழி ஏற்றனர். வேந்தரின்  பிறந்தநாள் விழாவின் நடவடிக்கைகளில் ஒன்றான 84,000 மரக்கன்றுகள் நடும் பணியின் தொடக்கமாக இன்று பொத்தேரி ஏரிக்கரையில் 150 மரக்கன்றுகள் நடப்பட்டன. இந்நிகழ்ச்சியை பேராசிரியர் மற்றும் மனநல துறை தலைவர் டாக்டர் ஆர்.அருள் சரவணன் துவக்கி வைத்து சிறப்புரையாற்றினார். வளாகத்தின்  இணை இயக்குநர் மற்றும் உன்னத் பாரத் அபியான் திட்ட ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் முனைவர் வ.திருமுருகன் தலைமை வகித்தார். நாட்டு நல பணி திட்ட மருந்தக கல்லூரி  ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் ஜெகதீசன் மற்றும் ஆசிரியகள் , மாணவர்கள் திரளாக கலந்து கொண்டனர். மணிக்கூண்டு அருகே துவங்கிய சைக்கிள் பேரணி, பொத்தேரி வரை சென்று கரையோரங்களில் மரக்கன்றுகளை நட்டு, கிழக்கு பொத்தேரி, காட்டூர், நினைக்கரை, ரயில்நகர், மறைமலைநகர், காடாங்குளத்தூர், பொத்தேரி வழியாக 15 கி.மீ சுற்றளவில், பாதுகைகள்  மற்றும் கோஷங்களுடன் பொதுமக்களிடம் விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்தியது.

மாணவர்களுக்கு காலை உணவு வழங்கி அவர்களின் பங்குபற்றிய  கருத்துக்கள் பெறப்பட்டு நன்றியுரையுடன் நிகழ்வு நிறைவுற்றது.
