National Girl Child Day is commemorated each year in India on January 24. Launched in 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India, the program seeks to enhance public awareness on the inequalities encountered by girls in Indian society. The day is observed with organised actions, including awareness campaigns on Save the Girl Child, child sex ratios, and the creation of a safe and healthy environment for girls.
